In addition to his clinical skills, Dr. Alayo has a large experience in clinical research with many publications, awards and grants through his career. Dr. Alayo's gastroenterology practice is located Southern California and servces the people of Chula Vista and San Diego.

Meet Romina Waisbaum
Romina is a Registered Dietitian with the Commission of Dietetics and an active member of the academy of Nutrition and Dietetics with over 10 years of experience in the field. She has worked in a variety of healthcare facilities for WIC, Fresenius, Da Vita, Sea-mar CHC among others counseling patients on food and nutrition. Her passion is to teach her patients to make life lasting changes.
Romina is also a Certified Dietitian in the State of Washington and a Licensed Dietitian in the State of Georgia. She holds a Master’s degree in nutrition from Georgia State University and a bachelor’s degree from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She is fluent in Spanish and Hebrew.

Our Nutritionist Yazley Almazan from Corona, Ca came to San Diego to pursue her education in Dietetics. She completed
the Didactic Program in Dietetics accredited by The Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetic (ACEND)
at San Diego State University. During her undergraduate study, she was also involved in projects such as The
Sustainable, Optimized Urban and Latino-driven Agriculture (SOULA) project aiming to find innovative solutions to food
security with the incorporation of indigenous knowledge; and conducted further research along with a professor regarding
food insecurity in San Diego within the Latino community. After graduating with a B.S degree in Foods and Nutrition and
minor in Biology she completed her Dietetic Internship with KADDI.
Yazley has previous nutritional experience at Planned Parenthood Orange and San Bernardino County WIC working with
families, mothers, and children under the age of 5. She has also previously worked with renal patients undergoing dialysis
at DaVita, one of the nation’s largest dialysis companies. And has treated patients with various medical conditions
including: Obesity, Diabetes, High Cholesterol, Heart Disease, IBS, IBD, etc at a community clinic in Chino, Ca.
Here at Gastro SB, our nutritionist will assess your nutrition condition by using your nutrition-related history,
anthropometric measurements, and lab results to determine a nutrition diagnosis. We will counsel you based on your
diagnosis then together with you, we will develop a personalized plan involving consistent follow ups with our nutritionist to
help you reach your health/weight loss goals. It is my goal, as a nutritionist, to enable my patients to reach their goals and
become self-sufficient by providing education, support, and a sustainable plan.
